Sarah Bagley

About me

Hi, I’m Sarah.

I’m a fun-loving designer, developer, illustrator, and life-long resident of beautiful Milwaukie, Oregon.

The main thing you need to know about me is that I attended Portland State rather than Oregon State. (Not that there’s anything wrong with OSU—I just like the color orange.) At PSU, I studied Graphic Design, Illustration, Art History, Fine Art, and a little bit of a new subject back in 1998: Web Design.

College is fun.

On-the-job experience is even better.

Over 20 years as a graphic designer, and it all started with an internship at my local community newspaper where I worked throughout college. Since then, I’ve been a production designer, art director, freelancer, illustrator, social media manager, and more. You can read more about my journey here.

I’ll always love print, but the future is online.

Yes, I love The Internet and have had a passion for all things HTML for a long time. I used to wait for the latest issue of Rolling Stone so I could scour the ads to see if they had one of those fancy “URLs” listed. Not many companies had websites because it was 1995, but I remember those early adopters at M&Ms did! Straight to the college computer lab I went, waited an eon for the dial-up connection, typed in the URL exactly, and then marveled at the tens of colors and depth of information M&Ms provided. I was hooked… on the internet, not M&Ms.

Today, I’m all about reading web design and UX blogs, experimenting with different programming languages, coding custom WordPress themes, and creating Shopify ecommerce stores. I browse pages and pages of fonts the way other people shop for shoes. I also love helping small businesses and creatives with their online spaces, so I started a boutique web design & development studio called ModernFox.

“I can’t say enough about Sarah as a partner and designer for my website. I really appreciate her aesthetic and how she created a ‘vibe’ through the visuals, color scheme and placement. I would work with her again in a heartbeat.”

Yvonne Ingalls, Holosophy Leadership

When I’m not at my standing desk, drinking coffee, and coding, you can find me watching anything on Netflix, shopping at the Milwaukie Farmer’s Market, watching my daughter play soccer, or dreaming of the next time our family visits Disneyland.
